Seafood professionals from around the world came to Massachusetts this month to attend the Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America, which took place March 12-14 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in the city’s Seaport District.

Considered North America’s most dynamic seafood marketplace, this year’s conference attracted 1,141 exhibiting companies from 49 countries.  This year’s exhibit space spanned 237,665 net square feet – 31% larger than last year’s event.

“It was wonderful to welcome Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America back to the BCEC this year,” said Executive Director David Gibbons of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority. “This event exemplifies the importance of in-person gatherings and the connections that can be made between local and international purveyors in the Seafood industry. I would like to thank Diversified Communications for once again executing a flawless event.”

Countries new to the exhibition floor in 2023 included Bahrain, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Madagascar, Mauritius, Morocco, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Poland and Tunisia, according to event organizer Diversified Communications.

And long-time exhibitors from countries such as Japan, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, Ecuador, Chile, Iceland, India, Spain, Vietnam, Thailand and the United States returned with a large presence.

The exhibit hall was packed with seafood and processing companies offering a variety of fresh, frozen, canned, value-added, processed, and packaged seafood products. A popular section of the exhibit floor was the market-leading processing and packaging equipment available from the world’s leading manufacturers.

Among the local companies participating in this year’s conference were Cape Ann Lobsters, and new exhibitors Boston Conveyor and Automation Corp and Boston Bluefin.

Diversified Communications Group Vice President Liz Plizga said, “It’s incredible to see the convention center filled with suppliers and innovators from around the world presenting their products to industry peers. There’s no better way to connect with the seafood industry and get a pulse on what the industry is excited about right now.

“We’re thrilled to host a valuable event year after year for seafood buyers from every corner of the industry – restaurants, supermarkets, catering firms, seafood markets, hotels, airlines and cruise lines – and to deliver cutting-edge information to drive the seafood industry forward.”
