MassEcon recently honored 15 enterprising companies from across the commonwealth with its 16th Annual Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Awards, recognizing the outstanding contributions of investment, job growth, facility expansion, and community involvement in the Bay State.
Tanglewood, located in Lenox, Massachusetts, also received a Community Impact Award for its Linde Center for Music and Learning.
Governor Charlie Baker sent a video presentation congratulating the winners, and EOHED Secretary Mike Kennealy was the featured speaker. WBZ-TV News Anchor Lisa Hughes was master of ceremonies at the event, which took place at Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel on November 26, 2019.
Governor Baker said, “MassEcon has been with us for over 25 years helping companies find great places in Massachusetts . . . and honoring and recognizing companies that stand out. On behalf of myself and Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, I’d like to extend our gratitude, appreciation and congratulations to all of the award winners… and all of you who are supporting them.”
MassEcon Executive Director Pete Abair said, “Each of these employers has committed to Massachusetts and together they re-affirm that our state is a great place to locate and grow a business.”
MassEcon Chairman Stephen Flavin, who is Vice President for Academic and Corporate Engagement at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, said, “We have large companies and small, urban and rural, home grown companies and others that are very new to Massachusetts. They are from a variety of industries and from every part of the state. Since January 1, 2018, these companies collectively added more than 2 6,660 jobs, over $3.4 billion in capital investment, and more than 4.4 million square feet of facility expansion.”
The winning companies were selected after site visits and a reception with their competitors and judges at Nutter McClennen & Fish LLP.
