The Lufthansa Group announced that Austria’s home carrier Austrian Airlines is launching the very first nonstop flights between Boston and Vienna, Austria, starting on March 29, 2020.
The new direct flight is part of Massport’s aggressive and successful initiative to add new travel options for passengers flying in and out of Logan International Airport.
The route will fly a Boeing 767-300ER equipped with 211 seats on this new route. Austrian Airlines flight 92 will depart Boston Logan International Airport at 6:15 p.m. and arrive in Vienna at 8:25 a.m.the following day. Austrian Airlines flight 91 will depart Vienna International Airport at 1:25 p.m. and arrive in Boston at 4:30 p.m.(all times local). Initially, Austrian will operate four weekly flights between the New England metropolis and Vienna hub, increasing to six frequencies per week as of mid-April.
The new service links Boston’s many academic institutions, theater & arts communities and various high tech industries with Vienna, Austria, as well as offering key connections throughout Central Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Lufthansa Group’s main hub airlines include Lufthansa, SWISS and Australian Airlines, all of which are fully represented in the New England region.
As New England’s primary airport, Boston Logan International Airport served 40.9 million passengers in 2018, and has nearly 20,000 full and part-time employees. Logan Airport currently operates direct air service to and from 77 domestic and 56 international destinations, while Worcester Regional Airport has direct service to 5 domestic destinations which provide convenient one-stop access to both US and international networks, according to Massport.
