Massachusetts has issued its annual 2019 compilation of popular sporting activities in the Bay State, ranging from professional games and collegiate tournaments to iconic competitions and fundraising events.

Here is the full schedule.

Assembled by Massachusetts Sports Marketing Office (MSMO) and Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism (MOTT), 2019 Massachusetts Sporting Events highlight new events this year such as the Crashed Ice Downhill Ice Skating race at Fenway Park and the American Hockey League All-Star Classic in Springfield, plus perennial favorites like Boston’s Beanpot Hockey Tournament, Falmouth Road Race, and the charitable Pan Mass Challenge.

“Sports help to build strong community spirit and they stimulate our state economy,” says Assistant Secretary of Business Development and International Trade Nam Pham. “Sports teams and their fans support our local businesses, hotels, restaurants and retail shops throughout Massachusetts.”

“Massachusetts sports teams have gained an international following,” says Executive Director Francois-Laurent Nivaud of Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism. “The upcoming Boston Red Sox – New York Yankees baseball game in London this June underscores the popularity of our sports brands around the globe.”

Since 2000, the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins have won a combined 11 championships, making Massachusetts the most successful state for professional sports in the United States. Massachusetts hosts world-renowned sporting events such as the Boston Marathon and Head of the Charles Regatta, and is also credited with inventing two sports, basketball and volleyball, in the 19th century.

“In addition to our top professional teams, we’re delighted that new minor league teams are cropping up all across the Commonwealth, from the Railers, Blades, Pirates, and Woo Sox in Worcester to the Thunderbirds in Springfield and the Spinners in Lowell,” says Massachusetts Sports Marketing Office Manager Ricardo Guillaume. “There’s a genuine appetite for sports everywhere in Massachusetts.”
