Massachusetts Celebrates Irish Heritage Month

| Posted by | Categories: Visit

To celebrate the Commonwealth’s largest ethnic group, Governor Charlie Baker issued a 2017 Irish Heritage Month proclamation that highlights the storied history, culture and accomplishments of the Massachusetts Irish.

Irish-Americans represent the largest ethnic community in the Commonwealth, with 20.5% of all residents claiming Irish ancestry, according to the US Census.

The Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism compiled a blog of Irish activities taking place in every corner of the Commonwealth, including cultural activities, special events, parades, commemorations and celebrations to mark St. Patrick’s Day, which falls on March 17 each year.
