The Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation (Mass DCR) has over 1/2 million acres of open space throughout the Commonwealth that is open to residents and visitors all year round. The properties range from parks, open space and historic landmarks to beaches, camping groups and trails for hiking or biking.
DCR Commissioner Leo Roy says, “The health and happiness of people across Massachusetts depend on the accessibility and quality of our green infrastructure – our natural resources, recreational facilities, and great historic landscapes. The DCR continues to improve the vital connection between people and the environment.”
